Robert Edward Barnes (born April 11, 1974) is a criminaltaxattorney, legal advocate, political commentator, and YouTuber. Barnes is the founder of Barnes Law LLP, a Los-Angeles-based law firm specializing in IRS investigations, tax fraud, asset recovery, and private banking.[1][2][3][4]

Early life and education[edit]

Barnes was born to a Baptist family in Chattanooga, Tennessee, the fifth of six children. Barnes' father passed away when he was a child.

Barnes was awarded a scholarship to The McCallie School, a private all-male high school.[5] He was later awarded a scholarship to Yale University, which he attended for two years before transferring to the University of Tennessee at Knoxville in 1994, citing Yale's elitism as the reason behind his decision to switch schools.[6][7] Barnes graduated from University of Wisconsin Law School in 2000. Barnes was formerly atlaw partner at the Bernhoft Law Firm. It was at Bernhoft that Barnes served as actor Wesley Snipes' taxdefense lawyer, alongside owner and managing partner Robert Bernhoft.[9][10] In 2008, Barnes represented Snipes, who was charged with conspiracy to defraud the government. Snipes was acquitted of tax fraud but convicted of failure to file taxes.[11]

Barnes has also represented eight Covington Catholic High School students[12] and Alex Jones.[13]

In 2019, Barnes began making weekly Sunday evening appearances on David Freiheit's YouTube channel, where the two discuss recent legal and political events.[14] Barnes also co-hosts a weekly Monday afternoon show on YouTube called What Are The Odds? with pollster Richard Baris.

Robert Barnes, the lawyer who represented conspiracy theorist Alex Jones in a case against parents of children killed in the Sandy Hook shooting, likened the establishment of quarantine measures to Nazis rounding up Jews to bring them to concentration camps.

“Know how the Nazis first sold concentration camps? They called it a quarantine. #ConstitutionOverCoronavirus” said Barnes in the tweet.

In fact, German authorities posted quarantine signs at the entrance of ghettos to prevent non-Jews from entering and seeing the living conditions there.

In recent days, Barnes has published other tweets comparing the quarantine restrictions to measures imposed by the Nazis.

Barnes is representing Jones in a defamation case brought on by parents who lost their children in a school shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School after Jones claimed the shooting was a hoax. Jones has been ordered to pay more than $100,000 in the case, which has not yet gone to trial.
